Why go for fish if you loooove a really good steak?
I get the feeling that I'm not the only one facing this dilemma! What is my next board? Safe choice or something new?
I've been surfing with a SKX by Tomo, and to be honest I think I never surfed so well in my entire life. I've put in the time over the last few years, but the board must have a key role here as well!! So, why the hell I am not searching for a board with the same outline, or even the same board?
I've been falling in love with swallow tails for some time. Why? Not really sure. Maybe it's because of Mick's performance a few years back at Jbay with a swallow tail? But that was a perfect Jbay and it was Mick surfing! Maybe because Toledo is using it in small conditions and he's ripping!! I know I am not Toledo, but at least the board goes well in small beach breaks! So why a swallow tail now?! I really don’t have an answer but I was 100% convinced that my next board would be a swallow.
I had my eyes on Sharpeye "HT2.5", LSD "Noa" and Cabianca "The Medina". All with swallow tail.
When the research started everything came into question, brands, models, dimensions, rails, fins, wave types, wind conditions, who uses it, what does the description say and the list is endless.
I believe that's part of the magic of choosing a brand new board! No one will be able to tell you what's the perfect board for you, the one that you were waiting an entire life. Maybe that's a bit of a stretch but you get my point. It seems like such a big commitment and you don't know how good a board is until you try it. There's no other way. But for me, for now, the search over.
Let's see what the Sharpeye HT2.5 is worth. (details below in the Community section).
